Candles
Make sure candles are in stable holders and place them where they cannot be easily knocked over
Trees
Check the label on the artificial tree saying “Fire Resistant”
Live trees should be fresh and well watered. The trunk of a fresh tree is sticky, and when tapped on the ground the tree should not lose many needles.
Lights
Never use electric lights on a metallic tree. Check all tree lights before hanging them on the tree. Plug all outdoor electric decorations into circuits with ground fault interrupters. Turn off all the holiday lights when you go to bed or when you leave the house.
